While we may not have inherited the "foodie"gene from our mother, we all add her signature "smiley face" to any tasty recipe we might come across in a cookbook.



Dave here: Mom was commenting how strange it was that we are all foodies. I'm not sure why either but I feel like it has to do with the fact that she always cooked for us. We were always judges (or guinea pigs) and that gave us a look into this delicious world of possibilities.  When I think of mom's cooking, I think of Sundays with Chicken & Rice waiting upon our return from church. I think of whipped raspberry topping for pancakes and hot cross buns. I think of egg noodles. The mere sight of ABC's Newsline makes me smell broccoli steaming and hear a "dinner's ready" call from behind the kitchen. Ahh, nostalgia and food, linked forever.
